Sharpening errors

Sharpening the rake angle with positive or negative angle
Causes the profile and the pressure angle to be deformed.

Unequal pitch
Causes: pitch disk worn, positioning pin badly adjusted or damaged.

Feed setting too large or grain size of the grinding wheel not adapted
Causes: hob cutter overheating with the risk of micro-fissures and cracks forming on the cutting edge.

Error on the propeller angle
Causes the profile to be deformed and impacts the conicity of the hob cutter..

Bad surface quality
Causes the service life of the hob cutter to decline, cutting edges building up, gear wheels noisier when in use.
